Cammi Vance

Cammi is a chiropractor and health coach based in Portland Oregon. She is passionate about all the ways people can cultivate health and soundness in body and mind — and movement and breath are central to her approach. She practiced Hatha Yoga sometimes with her mom as a kid, along with gymnastics and martial arts and dance, and so the love of movement arts was born. In her 20s she began to study dance more avidly, focused on Middle Eastern forms and fusions, and pursued bodywork certification, specializing in deep tissue and sports massage. She discovered Bikram Yoga in 2000 and fell in love with it as a gift to the body, so balancing and corrective to dancing life, and so centering to presence. In 2003 she moved to NYC to follow the course of dance: she performed off Broadway in a theatrical company, developed her own substyle of dance, and traveled nationally and internationally to teach and perform as part of a popular movement in the dance community. While living in NYC, she became a certified personal trainer and later a corrective exercise specialist, fascinated by the nuances of a body in motion. She also increased the frequency and intensity of her Bikram practice and ultimately was able to attend training in Spring of 2009, Palm Desert, returning to teach around NYC and the boroughs. She returned to Portland hometown in 2013 to attend chiropractic school at UWS. Keeping up a practice helped her keep some sanity through the intense med school program, and she taught at several studios around Portland which helped pay some of the bills and stay connected to a grounded and vibrant community. Cammi is grateful for the opportunity to show up for the kind of folks who make it in to the hot room. People who care about their health and are willing to put some skin in the game.
